Green Mountains of Vermont October 12-15, 2026

October 12, 2026  -Day 1 

We will depart for the Green Mountains of Vermont. We will pick up from south New Jersey. Experience driving through winding roads that trace deep river valleys and climb over  the beautiful mountains of Vermont. You will be surrounded by dense hardwood forest. The mountains are a vibrant green with majestical colors in the fall. A variety of colors from the balsam fern’s, native sugar maples, birch, aspen and oak resemble an impressionist painting of the horizon.

We will depart for Benington, Vermont. Admire the historic streets lined with grand colonial homes. Visit the Bennington Battle Memorial. The 1777 battle  was a major turning point in the American Revolutionary War. Free time for shopping and lunch  (on your own) in downtown Bennington.

Next stop, Manchester, VT. Enjoy a guided tour of Hildene Gardens, the summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln (President Abraham Lincoln’s Son). Free time to shop and explore on your own.

Depart  for  Ludlow, VT.  Check into The Pointe Hotel at Castle Hill Resort & Spa (Three nights). Relax and enjoy the amenities at the hotel this  evening!

October 13, 2026 – Day 2

Breakfast will be served in the hotel dining room. Following breakfast, we will depart for the historic Billings Farm and Museum. Explore an 1820 manager’s farmhouse, orchard, vegetable garden, and the barn animals. Learn about the impact that Marsh, Billings, and Rockefeller had on the Vermont we experience today.

Lunch (on your own) and shopping in downtown Woodstock (voted as one of the prettiest small towns in America). Enjoy the beautiful federal-style architecture, unique local shops, and home of the famous Rockefeller Inn. Excellent photo opportunity at the Middle Covered Bridge. In the afternoon, we depart for A photo opportunity at Quechee Gorge (Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon). Next stop is at Quechee Gorge Village. Samples of Vermont Cabot Cheese. Will be available. Free time to shop and purchase products to bring home from your visit. Return to the hotel. Enjoy dinner at the hotel tonight (meal choices pre-selected).

October 14, 2026 – Day 3                                                                 

After breakfast, depart for Champlain Orchards, Shoreham, VT. Enjoy a guided tour of the orchard and learn about the area’s history. Sample their great apple cider donuts and hard cider.  Free time allowed for shopping. They also ship. Following our visit, we will depart for  Middlebury, VT.  We will pass by Middlebury College and drive through downtown on our way to lunch at the Wanbury Inn (meal pre-selected). Famous for the Bob Newhart show and the poet Robert Frost. After lunch, we will depart for The Green Mountain Sugar House. An excellent presentation and tasting of Vermont’s Maple Syrup. The BEST in the state. After our visit, we will return to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. Dinner will be served at the Castle tonight (meal choices pre-selected).

October 15, 2026 – Day 4

Following breakfast, we depart  for the famous Vermont Country Store , Rockingham, VT. Founded by Vrest and Mildred Ellen Orton. Today the store is operated by third generation of Orton’s. At times, a family member may be present and happy to share their story. Originally started with catalog orders in 1946 and continues today. They offer a variety of nostalgic items from generations past, hard-to-find goods, candy, and apparel. Free time to shop. Remember to stop and get a photo at the LOVE Covered Bridge!

We will continue our journey to The Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield, Mass. Free time for shopping and lunch (on your own).  Afterward, we depart for New Jersey.
